How To Get An Agent

When I came to Los Angeles, I came from New York where I already had an agent and had been working for a few years. I came to Los Angeles for a week and stayed 30 years.
Not everyone who arrives in Hollywood has an agent or manager – quite the contrary – most don’t have either an agent or manager.  So how does an actor get an agent?  It will be the easiest or the most difficult thing in the world – sometimes both at the same time. You need to be noticed.  You need film or video of you acting so buyers can judge how you look and act if they hire you.  Student films, workshops, acting classes are all wonderful ways of getting exposure.
One of the most important things you will need is a good picture of yourself.  A realistic resume and a couple of good stories about yourself you can tell when someone says “So… Tell me a little something about yourself.”
Most agents/manager/casting directors, when they are looking at new potential clients/actors, look at about one minute of your demo reel.  That first minute better be good.
